Top 10 Things to do on the Sky Princess on Sea Days

Sky Princess | Elegantly Fashionable

The first time I went on a cruise, one of my biggest worries was what I would do during days at sea. I was concerned I might get bored and restless on those days spent cruising through the ocean – in reality, I couldn’t have been more wrong. I ended up thoroughly enjoying sea days – and then the Sky Princess came along and made things even better.

With a plethora of fun and relaxing things to do onboard, sea days aboard the Sky Princess may just end up being some of your absolute favourite times of your holiday – just like they were mine!

1. Watch Movies Under the Stars

One of the most magical things about cruising is being in the midst of the ocean, all alone under an incredible canopy of stars. It really brings home how vast our planet is, and it’s a very serene and magical experience.

This is what made watching movies under the stars, one of my favourite things to do. With the vast sky above you, snuggle in to watch some films – from movie classics to latest releases and the odd special event as well.

There are even comfy blankets for you to really snuggle up, and freshly popped popcorn for the true cinema vibe – at sea!

2. Hang out by the pool and order some snacks

The pool is one of my favourite places of any cruise ship, and as you’d expect, they are utterly spectacular aboard the Sky Princess. The ship boasts not one but four spectacularly beautiful pools – so there were two for me to try on each sea day – a challenge I happily accepted.

Scheduling in some time to work on your tan and laze by the pool is an absolute must on any cruise. However, aboard the Sky Princess, it’s even better, as the fabulously smart MedallionClass app means you can order food to be brought right to you.

Its smart technology means it will easily find you, no matter which pool you’ve decided to laze by!

3. Spend the Day at the Adults-only Sanctuary

Cruise ships are great fun for visitors of all ages, however, I loved the thoughtfulness of having a dedicated luxurous spa-inspired adults-only area on the top deck for visitors desiring peace and quiet. The gorgeous Sanctuary is an oasis of calm, devoted to seducing the senses and promoting overall wellness.

Within the Sanctuary, there are eight private cabanas which can be rented for the day. There are also lounge chairs for rent, and healthy food/drinks can be delivered right to you with the trust MedallionClass app.

As well as enjoying the tranquillity, there’s also a jacuzzi and Serenity Stewards attending to your every need.

4. Enjoy Michelin Star Dining

Do you have any worries about the quality of the food aboard cruise ships? Let me put your mind at rest – the food is some of the best I’ve tasted, on land or at sea! The team behind the Sky Princess pride themselves on delivering mouth-wateringly good food onboard the ship.

One definite highlight is Bistro Sur La Mer, the brainchild of the ultra-awarded French chef Emmanuel Renaut. Drawing inspiration from his sumptuous Flocons de Sel restaurant – a favourite of the rich and famous, with an incredible three Michelin stars – the menu here is absolutely delicious.

5. See Broadway-Style Productions

One of the things that I found so incredible about the Sky Princess experience was the incredible quality of everything, including the dazzling entertainment. You’d think that recreating a Broadway-Esque performance onboard a cruise ship would be impossible – but the Sky Princess makes it a reality.

The ship includes a lavish, state-of-the-art theatre with spectacular lighting and audio. Here, you can catch mesmerising shows which seriously turn up the entertainment factor to 1000. As you lay back in the plush seats and let yourself get carried away by the spectacular show, you might just find yourself believing you’re on Broadway or the West End!

6. Relax in the Lotus Spa and Enclave

Those who read my blog will know that I love a good spa – and the Sky Princess offers an absolutely wonderful one. It was named the “Best Spa on a Cruise Ship” by SpaFinder Wellness 365, and it is an accolade that was well deserved.

The spa offers a fabulous selection of treatments, including Princess’ largest-ever thermal suite and hydrotherapy pool. You’ve definitely got to make time to pamper yourself while enjoying an incredible cruise with Princess!

7. Spend Time at the Piazza

The heart of the Sky Princess is an amazing Piazza. You might find yourself wondering if you’ve been transported to an old European square – but no, this is just the bustling Piazza on board.

Filled with exceptional boutiques, restaurants and bars as well as the added charm of street performers, you can’t miss paying it a visit. I especially recommend trying a glass of wine in the highly-acclaimed Vines wine bar or going up in the glass elevator to enjoy the panoramic views.

8. Attend Top Deck Parties

You’re on holiday, so it’s time to let your hair down and have a good time! Luckily, Sky Princess has you sorted in that department, with their utterly fabulous top deck parties. Held during the day or evening, these amazing parties give you the chance to meet some of your fellow guests and have a wonderful time.

There’s great food, delicious drinks and even a live band to add to the overall atmosphere. And yes, there’s a dancefloor to tempt you in to dance the night away as you glide over the ocean.

9. Listen to Jazz

I just love the smooth sounds of jazz, and it’s such an excellent soundtrack for your elegant cruise aboard the Sky Princess. So, it’s fitting that the Sky Princess would be home to the only jazz theatre at sea.

By day, there are fun offerings like salsa classes, while in the evening you’ll be transported back in time to the jazz era. Relax to the sounds of live jazz by incredible musicians, and enjoy a perfectly-mixed cocktail from Master Mixologist, Rob Floyd. Sounds pretty amazing, right?

10. Play games in the Sports Court or Work Out in the Gym

It’s so easy to stay fit and healthy on board the Sky Princess, and it’s even fun to work out on the ship. The Sports Court is the place to go for some good-natured competition – shoot some hoops or try to beat your fellow cruisers in a game of volleyball.

There’s also an exceptionally equipped gym for your more traditional workout. The Lotus Spa Fitness Centre is equipped with all the latest in workout equipment, while classes including Pilates, Boot Camp and TRX suspension training add even more options for staying fit while enjoying the cruise experience of a lifetime!
